ABOUT US:
Hello! We're Alex and Lars. We've been living aboard our 37 foot sailboat, Navika for 2.5 years and are sailing full time. We started our journey in the South of France, and sailed around the Mediterranean for 2 years before sailing across the Atlantic at the beginning of 2022. Now we're in the Caribbean and who knows where the wind will blow us to next! Follow along as we document the highs and lows of our life on the water and share the incredible places we get to visit.

Переглядів 103 тис.Рік тому
Hello! We finally got around to doing a boat tour of Navika :) Here we show you all the upgrades and refits we've done aboard our 1981 Tayana 37 that has been our home for the last 3 years. We go through the interior of the boat before moving on deck and share what we love and changed on this classic Bluewater cruiser. Some upgrades are more controversial than others! Hope you enjoy and let us ...

Hello! In this video, we start off in Soufriere in the south of Dominica for some freediving training on the platform down there. We hike the first segment of the Waitukubili trail and then say goodbye as we sail down to Martinique. In Martinique, we visit parts of the island we haven't seen yet, enjoy some of the hussle and bussle that the island has to offer (compared to sleepy Dominica) and ...

We're in Guadeloupe in this video and we decide to do our AIDA 2 freediving course to learn all the fundamentals of freediving and feel more confident diving on our own. We meet Tom who's a freediving instructor on a boat we're anchored up next to who runs the course for us. We sail to Deshaies for a final night with my brother and then Lars rolls straight into his AIDA 3 certification. We then...

We didn't know much about the island before coming but we found there was so much to do and see here! Before setting off, we install our AcuvaTech UV filter tap which we're so glad we went for. Captain Sails Us Through a Shallow Pass in Bad Weather | Ep. 66

Hello :) In this video, we leave Barbuda with our boat and sail towards Antigua. We have some bad weather underway, it starts to rain as we get closer to our destination. Lars insists on us sailing through a pretty narrow passage to get to our anchorage, but conditions are not ideal. We then continue on to Green Island and English Harbour in Antigua! Thanks so much for following our journey! Hi...

Aloha, welcome back! In this video, we set sail from Antigua and make our way North to its sister island Barbuda. We're so surprised when we get there to find it's basically just one big beach! But we have it all to ourselves and swim ashore for an explore. We then have a squally sail down towards Cocoa bay, which is less remote but still beautiful. We check out the local bar there, Shack-a-kai...

We then make our way across to Falmouth Harbour and after a sketchy ride towing the dinghy we go to the famous BBQ evening at Shirley Heights on a Sunday. We set sail for Green Island but after struggling our way upwind we change our plans and head back West to find the most pristine anchorage. We set up cam...

Welcome back! In this video we continue our journey sailing across the Atlantic Ocean, heading towards the Caribbean. We try to fly our drone at sea, which was a pretty nerve wracking experience and we reflect on what passage life means for us and how we've...

Anyway, life goes on at sea and morale is overall pretty good, except for a low point when we didn't have any wind. Hope you enjoy! Thanks for watching! Hit ...

Hi there, I have just watched your boat tour video. It is a year ago, but I was wondering what top loading fridge/ freezer system you installed, as it seems it is a pre-made system. I presently live on another Robert Perry design. Cheoy lee 44ft. I am looking at refurbishing my top loading fridge and was interested in how you did yours. Thanks

Five things to do on a boat: 1. keep the crew on board 2. Keep the mast up 3. Keep the keel down 4. Keep the water out 5. Keep the rudder on.

Amazing video. You guys have convinced me to stand my ground. I come from a family that loves to travel but they just want to go to commercialized locations. Me on the other hand.. I want raw experiences. Going to places that have so much tourism potential but for whatever reason has not been taken over by corporate interests that just ruin it anyways. Dominica seems to fit that bill just right. Thank you very much for sharing your experience …

Thank you for the tour, I am going to look at the same boat this weekend. It does not have the teak decks. I looked at a Baba 40 with teak decks, and they all need to be torn up, and lots of coring replaced/filled with epoxy. Keep an eye out for soft spots. I love the look of the teak deck though.

Can you explain why you went with 5 blades instead of 3? I have been researching like crazy but I am not sure which way to go. It seems like maybe 5 blades is more efficient at low winds speeds and 3 at higher? 2 amps at 10 knots seems right but is kind of a bummer. Makes me think that I would be better off with more solar first (thinking about $ per amp). Great video guys. Ill start following.
